Once Upon a Time in China I-VI (1991-97) DVDRip VOSI

Synopsis: Set in late 19th century Canton this martial arts film depicts the stance taken by the legendary martial arts hero Wong Fei-Hung (1847-1924) against foreign forces' (English, French and American) plundering of China. When Aunt Yee arrives back from America totally westernised, Wong Fei-Hung assumes the role of her protector. This proves to be difficult when his martial arts school and local militia become involved in fierce battles with foreign and local government. As violence escalates even Aunt Yee has to question her new western ideals, but is it possible to fight guns with Kung Fu?

Synopsis: In the sequel to the Tsui Hark classic, Wong Fei-Hung faces The White Lotus society, a fanatical cult seeking to drive the Europeans out of China through violence, even attacking Chinese who follow Western ways. Wong must also defend Dr. Sun Yat Sen, a revolutionary, from the military. With his friends, loved ones, and the future of China itself at stake, Wong must once again use his martial arts skills to defend the innocent.
For general Western audiences, I'd like to say that OUATIC II is a more accessible Hong Kong action film with its balance of action, drama, and humor, but a characteristically flippant use of whimsically violent imagery within a real world setting may not appeal to sensitive viewers. But for sheer Hong Kong style bravado, this film delivers a visually jam-packed feast of stylized action within a historically-based tale that boldly echoes the concerns of today's society. Around here, we call that art. -- Mark Pollard
Once Upon a Time in China and America (1997)
aka Once Upon a Time in China VI

Imagen
advancedfilesize

Synopsis: Wong Fei-hung travels to the American West to oversee the opening of a branch of his Po Chi Lam medical clinic. While there he encounters restless Native Americans and joins a young gunslinger in protecting a Chinese community from a corrupt town mayor and his hired guns.

Reviews: KFC | LoveHKFilm.com | IMDb (external reviews)
Once Upon a Time in China and America is best thought of as a further adventure of Wong Fei-hung in pulp fashion. In fact, a better title might have been Wong Fei-hung vs. the Savages or Wong Fei-hung Meets Billy the Kid. Sammo's choreography is very good, but it mostly rehashes typical '90s wirework and gives martial abilities to characters who shouldn't have any. But it really doesn't matter. Sammo and Tsui aren't taking the matter too seriously and viewers shouldn't either. This movie is all about putting Hong Kong-style wire fu action into a campy Western setting and they succeed. Yet it does make one yearn for a serious attempt at putting a kung fu fighter in an authentic Western setting, perhaps as Bruce Lee had originally envisioned when he conceived of the Kung Fu television series. -- Mark Pollard
