Sinopsis: Alemania, SGM. La vida en el campo es dura, sobre todo para una joven con un marido en el frente y el trabajo de una granja.
Comentario: La película, ambientada en Bavaria en los años 30 y 40, narra una conmovedora historia de una campesina alemana antes y durante la Segunda Guerra mundial, y está basada en autobiografía de Anna Wimschneider. A los 8 años, tras la muerte de su madre y como hija mayor en la familia, Anna tuvo que asumir el cuidado del hogar y la familia (su padre, dos hermanos mayores y cinco hermanastros menores). Con 18 años, poco antes del estallido de la SGM, y en contra de la voluntad de su familia, se casa con Albert Wimschneider, y comienza una nueva vida rodeada de parientes “indeseables” y una suegra que siente por ella un profundo odio. Al estallar la guerra Albert es movilizado y Anna debe encargarse también del trabajo en el campo, incluso durante su embarazo.In 1984, Anna Wimschneider, a woman who had been a farmgirl in Bavaria during World War Two published an autobiography which focused on her life during that period, and it became a huge bestseller. Her story, Herbstmilch, is brought to the screen by her fellow Bavarian, director Joseph Vilsmaier. At the beginning of the story, Anna (Dana Vavrova) is the oldest daughter of a widowed farmer, and toils ceaselessly looking after her father and her many younger brothers. She abandons her dream of becoming a nurse when she falls in love with and marries her neighbor, Albert (Werner Stucker), who is also a farmer. Before she can get too used to things, her new husband is drafted, and she is left as the only completely able-bodied person on the farm, and must support not only her hostile mother-in-law, but a whole host of new aunts and uncles. Enduring even more incredible and backbreaking labor on this primitive farm than on her father's farm, and pregnant, somehow she survives. Both Anna and her beloved Albert appear in significant cameos in this film (Clarke Fountain, AMG).
El personaje real falleció poco después de finalizar el rodaje de la película, en cuya parte final aparece, mientras que su esposo Albert interpreta el papel de uno de los tíos.

Buscando una película sobre la vida cotidiana en la retaguardia durante la SGM en Alemania, encontré este enlace. La vi hace algún tiempo en un canal de cable y me pareció muy interesante (podría decirse que es una especia de Heimat que tiene como protagonistas a una familia de campesinos católicos bávaros). No es una obra maestra, pero el argumento es muy atractivo y cuenta con un excelente reparto (Dana Vávrová obtuvo el premio a la mejor actriz del Festival Internacional de Cine de Valladolid 1989).
