Sinopsis: Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial un piloto norteamericano se estrella cerca de Belfast en Irlanda y, agonizante, entrega el anillo de compromiso que guardaba para su novia a un joven para que se lo haga llegar a la muchacha, que vive en Estados Unidos. Medio siglo más tarde, un conocido de aquel joven encuentra la alianza y, tras investigar su origen, trata de cumplir la promesa que le hizo su amigo al piloto y devolverle, así, el anillo a su novia (Cinematk).

Comentario: Un buen melodrama de Richard Attenborough, director que ha tocado muchos palos (no siempre con acierto, pero generalmente con oficio). Shirley MacLaine y Christopher Plummer están, sencillamente, impresionantes.
