Sinopsis: Durante el Siglo de Oro español, Doña Prouhèze, esposa de un noble, se enamora profundamente de Don Rodrigo. Este último es obligado a abandonar España para marchar a América (donde acabará siendo virrey), mientras el rey le manda a Doña Prouhèze regir la ciudadela de Mogador, en África. Ella le manda una carta a Don Rodrigo, pero éste la lee diez años tarde. Dejando el Nuevo Mundo, Rodrigo llega a Mogador, buscando a Pouhèze.
