Sinopsis: Ditte forma parte de los Rheinwald, una conocida familia de panaderos. Pero sus inquietudes van más allá de los hornos; posee su propia galería de arte y se mueve en los círculos intelectuales. Ditte pertenece a una conocida familia de panaderos, los Rheinwald. También es la dueña de una galería de éxito y una persona inquieta y dinámica. Tras recibir la oferta de sus sueños para trabajar en Nueva York, decide ir a vivir junto a su novio Peter a la Gran Manzana. La pareja se dispone a establecerse allí cuando Rikard, el carismático padre de Ditte, cae gravemente enfermo. Ditte cancela el viaje a Nueva York para estar con él.
En poco tiempo, su propio estilo de vida quedará en suspenso. Rikard le exige a su hija que asuma su responsabilidad en el negocio de la familia y se convierta en la nueva dueña de la panadería, mientras que Peter, que teme que su novia renuncie a los sueños de la pareja, pugna en sentido contrario. Todo se ha complicado de repente…
Pernille Fischer Christensen. Nacida en 1969, estudió Dirección en la Escuela Nacional de Cine de Dinamarca, donde se graduó en 1999 tras haber rodado los cortos ‘Honda, Honda’ (1996), ‘The Girl Named Sister’ (1997) e ‘Indien’ (1999).
Su primer largometraje, ‘A Soap’ (2006), consiguió en el Festival de Cine de Berlín el Oso de Plata, el Gran Premio del Jurado y el Premio a la Mejor Ópera Prima. También ganó, entre otros galardones, el Premio de la Crítica Cinematográfica Danesa a la Mejor Película en 2007. En 2008 estrenó su segundo largometraje, ‘Dansen’, y ‘Una familia’ es su tercer largo de ficción (SEMINCI).

AMG SYNOPSIS: In this drama from Denmark, Richard Rheinwald (Jesper Christensen) is the patriarch of a family who've enjoyed considerable success in the baking business, running several up-market bake shops and catering to the Danish royal family. Richard is a man who believes in family above all else, and when he's diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, he decides its time to turn over the company to one of his children. Richard has two adult daughters, Ditte (Lene Maria Christensen) and Chrisser (Line Kruse), and he and his second wife Sanne (Anne Louise Hassing) decide Ditte is the right one for the position. But Ditte isn't so sure she wants a place in the family business; she's never worked in the bakery, has devoted herself to a career in the arts, and was just offered a job running a gallery in New York City that's just the sort of work she's always wanted. Ditte puts her plans on hold while she helps Sanne and Chrisser look after Richard, but she can't decide how to reconcile her own needs with those of her father; she also has to consider the feelings of her boyfriend Peter (Pilou Asbaek), who wants a more committed relationship. En Familie (aka A Family) was directed and co-written by Pernille Fischer Christensen; considering the strong role family relationships play in the film, it's interesting that neither the director, leading man Jesper Christensen or leading lady Lene Maria Christensen are related. -- Mark Deming
